Chiropractor & Clinical Nutritionist
Gary Saks D.C.
I am still amazed at all the conditions that chiropractic care can help! It surprised me when I was a patient, but even more so when I became a doctor.
The reason I became a chiropractor was that as a patient I was impressed at what chiropractic did for me. I had a headache that lasted for six months. I went to a chiropractor and in very short order, the headache disappeared. Rarely do I have them now, and that was over 40 years ago!
I graduated from Wayne State University as a teacher in 1972. That turned out to be a very good base because I love to teach about being healthy. I graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1976. I received the traditional chiropractic education coming away with the Palmer Package of adjusting techniques. However, while attending Palmer I developed a passion for Applied Kinesiology (AK) and clinical nutrition. In fact, I was the Founder and President of the Palmer Applied Kinesiology Club. Currently, I am board qualified in AK. I learned from the creator of the technique, Dr. George Goodheart, I have logged in over 1000 hours of post graduate education in the realm of clinical nutrition and am now certified in Nutrition Response Testing.
The Key to Healthy Living
I feel that our current health model is going down the wrong road. Being healthy isn't just about getting rid of symptoms quickly and assuming that you have fixed the cause of the problem. There are a lot of ways to help the body to heal itself. When that occurs, you have achieved a level of health that is not dependent on medications. Once that occurs, health actually comes down to a day by day, moment by moment decision on how we conduct our lives and treat our bodies.
The key to living healthy is to prepare your body to run in an optimal state. Chiropractic care, proper nutrition and exercise are just a few of the essential components for well being. Chiropractic care is the largest health care delivery system that doesn't use drugs or surgery. It is gentle and works in harmony with the body, and does not cause side effects.
On A Personal Note
My time outside of the office is spent cutting firewood, cross-country skiing or working in the garden. I am a devoted practitioner of Yoga and meditation. I enjoy backpacking in remote places like Alaska and Isle Royale.
I live the lifestyle I ask my patients to follow. We take into consideration a person’s overall health, the way they eat, what level of activity is within their daily practice, and their mental and emotional health.
See How Chiropractic Can Help You
As a Chiropractor in Gaylord since 1976, I have had the opportunity to work with a large variety of people and conditions. I continue to be impressed with how the body can heal itself given the right help from the outside and the right efforts from the patient.
I consider myself an excellent listener and hope I get the opportunity to meet you in person and discuss your specific health challenge. Give our office a call.

"I am proud to say I am from northern Michigan. We are blessed to be tucked in between the beautiful shorelines of the Great Lakes while also being enclosed by natural wilderness. Our small knit communities are a great way to grow up because you feel safe here surrounded by friends and neighbors. I can't see myself living anywhere else."

I'm a transplant to Northern Michigan. In 2010 my daughter and I moved to Gaylord from the Detroit area to get closer to other family in this area. Getting out of the city and now living where I used to vacation is amazing! I myself have always practiced holistic health which lead me to my interest and becoming certified in Reiki I and II. Working at Saks Wellness Center is a perfect fit for me. In my free time, I enjoy family, Nature, and just having fun!
